The Annual VTRA Horse Show: another resounding success!
June 6th was our annual horse show, and it sure was a hot one! Shady spots were at a premium, and the sun didn’t let up all day. 55 of our riders took part in the show, each riding a test pattern and taking a spin around the nature themed obstacle course. The VTRA riders looked so sharp, and the hard work that has gone into learning the test pattern was very evident. Congratulations to all of our riders!
All day, the Central Saanich Lions were on site cooking up breakfast, burgers, and hot dogs. We also had community vendors – Gobinds Farms, Level Ground, and Adriana’s Mexican Restaurant – providing an assortment of berries and snacks.
We could not be more pleased with how smoothly the show went. The tests were all on time, and we had a fabulous crew of volunteers helping with everything. Volunteers came working all day Friday to get ready for the show, and many were back again at 7am on the day of the show to help clean and braid the horses. Speaking of the horses… they really did shine this year! (Except for Smudges, who insisted on rolling in the dirt right after her bath!) Our amazing therapy-horses were so steady and calm during the show, they really were on their best behaviour. Thank you to all the riders and volunteers that were able to participate, and to all the friends, family and supporters that came to cheer everyone on!
